Currently, we are on the 26th year of Panchayati Raj, as a constitutional body. Activities and efforts on strengthening Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) are losing their importance nowadays. The number of initiatives in strengthening PRIs is very few. So, here Society for Participatory Research In Asia (PRIA) a 37-year-old Civil Society Organisation (CSO) in New Delhi has taken a lead in setting up a Panchayat Knowledge Hub, in association with the like-minded organisation and individuals and passionately committed to strengthening PRIs.
The panchayat hub is majorly divided into three sessions;
1. PRIA Resources
2. External Resources
3. Audio-Visual Resources
1. PRIA Resources:
This section is a series of all the documents that PRIA has produced over the years of engagement with the Panchayati Raj. The collection includes research papers, policy briefs, intervention reports, synthesis papers, case studies, audio-visuals. This section is useful for individuals and organisations who wish to sharpen an advanced understanding of various topics related to PRIs in India.
2. External Resources:
This session contains two sub-sessions;
a) Documents
b) Data
Documents include resources created by different stakeholders including practitioners, organisations, researchers, and policymakers. The section contains written material and tools to enhance the understanding of PRIs and other related fields. The links to the original source of information have been provided in all the documents for reference and downloading purposes.
Data can mean different things in different contexts. The Panchayat Hub has taken a comprehensive stand at the definition of ‘data’ and carefully compiled and organized a wide variety of fragmented information, facts, and figures, etc. in a systematic manner. This section is a one-stop solution for data searching on various themes related to the Panchayati Raj system. This initiative provides all users with open access to data compiled by PRIA through various sources. The data is provided in a readable format.
3. Audio-Visual Resources
Audiovisuals are effective tools for the learning process. This section of the hub provides various audiovisual resources of PRIA and external organisations on Panchayati Raj. Below are links for audio-visuals for your access. These audiovisuals will assist you in understanding the basics of the Panchayati Raj system in India and provide insights on various grassroots intervention undertaken in the development discourse of Panchayats.
You can access Panchayat Hub through the following link:
The Hub cordially invites partners for knowledge co-creation and dissemination on Panchayati Raj (and related topics). You can contribute your research papers, synthesis reports, tool-kits or any other written resources for publication in the PRIA knowledge hub. We encourage original research articles, review articles, policy briefs, case studies, etc. which can be published on this microsite. Authors are invited to submit the papers to library@pria.org
